Mission Statement

It is the mission of the Stephen Schnellenberger Foundation for Sober Living to provide funds to men and women who are in need of a sober transitional living environment but do not have the means to secure such housing. We believe that every alcoholic and drug addict who is ready to make the profound changes in his or her life required for long-term sobriety deserves a safe, supportive, and sober environment in which to begin the life-long journey of recovery. Inspired by the hope and tragedy inherent in Stephen Schnellenberger’s story, the Stephen Schnellenberger Foundation was created to provide drug addicted/alcoholic men and women as well as their families the opportunity to recover—an opportunity that Stephen tragically never fulfilled but, through this foundation, the memory of his life and death can give to others. Every life lost to the disease of alcoholism/drug addiction is a tragedy; it is our mission at the Stephen Schnellenberger Foundation to ensure that all those who are in desperate need of recovery receive the help and housing that can transform and save lives.

Appropriate Candidate:

All prospective recipients of funds from the Stephen Schnellenberger Foundation will be men and women who have found little hope in repeated attempts at sobriety and are therefore completely willing to follow all of the recommendations set forth by transitional living facilities. The Stephen Schnellenberger Foundation for Sober Living is designed for the alcoholic/drug addict who has experienced the resources provided by treatment centers and for whom recovery has still proven impossible.
